A Father Unable to Work, Two Boys in School, and a Tumor in the Way

He is thirty-three, a father of two, and a brain tumor has taken his ability to work along with it.

He lives on the outskirts of Greater Cairo with his wife and their two sons, both in elementary school. He used to drive for a living. He cannot anymore. The family now lives on a monthly pension of about 3,000 EGP, and the surgery he needs to remove the tumor costs about 200,000 EGP.

A father who cannot work, and cannot afford the surgery that would let him work again, is caught in a trap that tightens on its own. Every month without the operation is another month his condition holds its ground, his sons grow a little older, and a small pension is stretched further than it was ever meant to go.

His church committed 20,000 EGP toward the surgery. Luke's Kids committed to the remaining 180,000 EGP, roughly $3,700, so the tumor can be removed and a father of two young boys can begin to find his way back to them.
